The quintessential English market town of Melton Mowbray is nestled in the pretty Leicestershire countryside. The town offers easy access to Leicester, Nottingham, the M1 and East Midlands airport. The train station operates services to Leicester, Birmingham, Peterborough and Stansted airport. Melton Mowbray, famed for it's pork pies and Stilton cheese, also hosts a number of food and drink festivals throughout the year, so it's no surprise that the town has earned the title 'Rural Capital of Food'. One is spoilt for choice for shopping and recreation, with the wealth of markets, cafes, shops and pubs on offer in the town. The area is also well served for education, with primary and secondary schools and the recently transformed Brooksby Melton College. The surrounding area also offers great walking routes with the heritage trail and Melton county park which has been named 'One of the best parks in the UK'. Nearby Twinlakes theme park and Carnegie Museum provide great family days out.

Grantham is around 11 miles north-east of the village, providing access to direct rail links from Grantham Station to London Kings Cross (1hr) and the A1 trunk road.

The local school is Waltham on the Wolds Church of England Primary School which is located in the village.

Where as nearby Melton Mowbray offers numerous primary schools including Brownlow, Grove, St Francis RC, St Mary's C of E, Sherard and Swallowdale. Long Field Academy and John Ferneley College are also located nearby, which take students aged 11 to 16, and the Melton Vale Post 16 Centre (MV16) for Sixth Formers. The Birchwood Special School caters for young people of primary and secondary school age. Brooksby Melton College which provides vocational, further and higher education in a wide range of subjects has a campus on Asfordby Road in Melton plus a smaller annexe on King Street. These facilities complement those on the college's Brooksby campus 6 miles (10 km) out of the town.

Grantham is well-respected for the quality of its local schools, which regularly achieve some of the best academic results in the area. Both community and independent schools are available for children of all ages, and the town’s two grammar schools, Kesteven and Grantham Girls School and The King’s Grammar School, are in particularly high demand.
